FSL Projects supported Rugby Borough Council as Quantity Surveyor on the planned refurbishment of the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.
The commission involved the cost planning of ten option appraisals to provide different configurations of the planned refurbishment. All options included extensions and significant reconfiguration of the museum, art gallery and rugby museum, along with associated external works and plant replacement.
The project required a methodical and considered approach to cost planning, ensuring all ten options were accurately costed in line with the expectations of the operators. Each option was planned in phases to ensure aspects of the Art Gallery and Museum could be kept in operation throughout the works.
A key sensitivity of the project was the handling of artefacts within the museum, which needed to be temporarily relocated and stored outside the building during certain phases. FSL Projects ensured this was fully considered within our cost planning and phasing approach, with careful consideration given to the implications of any amendments across all ten options.
Appointed Roles: FSL Projects were appointed as Quantity Surveyor.
Contracted Activities: FSL Projects provided full cost planning services across all ten option appraisals, working closely with the design team and Rugby Borough Council to ensure budgets were accurate, deliverable and aligned with client expectations throughout.
