Tresham College, Corby Campus

Tresham College were seeking funding applications from the Skills Funding Agency for new colleges at Wellingborough, Kettering and Corby.

Phil completed multiple detailed cost plans for each campus, to support the applications.  Each project was value engineered to meet threshold requirements of the SFA.  Unfortunately, Wellingborough and Kettering were declined funding and with a concerted effort, we managed to secure funding for the new Corby Campus.    In accordance with funding requirements the developer needed to secure a BREEAM Excellent rating.    In addition to the usual BREEAM credits of energy efficiency and waste management, the design team were tasked with targeting more credits in other areas including health and well-being, land use and ecology.   Overall, the project achieved a BREEAM rating of “Excellent” with an overall score of 72%.     Additionally, the project was completed within budget with the final account agreed prior to practical completion.

Added Value: Multistakeholder Engagement – With multiple stakeholders involved in the project, our aim was to maintain robust cost management whilst managing the expectations of the various department heads.

Phil was appointed as Quantity Surveyor/Cost Manager and managed the project from inception through to completion.   Overall the completed project was completed within the budget set via our cost plans.  This was achieved through regular variation meetings with the main contractor to maintain a rolling final account.
